A photograph and its story

Hello everyone!

This is not one of the best photos I have, but that day was one of the best I have ever experienced.
This photo was taken by my mother 3 years ago. The place where I am in the photograph is Iquique, specifically in the Humberstone Saltpeter Office. I been wanted to know the Saltpeter Offices for a long time since I love to know about the history of Chile and every time that in the history classes of my school they talked about the "cuestión social" or the "nitrate era" in Chile, I more I wanted to know this place and know what the Saltpeter Offices were like and how the workers lived.

I like this photo because it reminds me of that moment of excitement and enthusiasm that I had for getting to know this place, it also comes to mind everything that I could learn there, which was: knowing the lifestyle, knowing how the workers were paid, see how people lived in that place and learn how the work of extraction of the saltpeter was carried out.

Thank you for reading!
